Balamory star shares incredible throwback snap of cast to celebrate 20th anniversary of hit BBC show

The first ever photograph of the cast of Balamory has been revealed and it certainly is a throwback snap. The show has recently re-launched on BBC iPlayer to celebrate its 20-year anniversary.

Set in beautiful Tobermory, Mull, in Scotland, the show featured colourful characters who each had a distinctive colour which matched the house they lived in.

Andrew Agnew, who played PC Plum in the programme, took to Twitter to post an unseen photo of the cast which included Julie Wilson-Nimmo (Miss Hoolie), Juliet Cadzow (Edie McCredie), Miles Jupp (Archie The Inventor), Rodd Christensen (Spencer The Painter Kim Tserkezie (Penny Pocket) and the late Mary Riggans (Suzie Sweet).

The photo also includes actress turned fashion designer Buki Akib, who played Josie Jump in the early series of the show. She was later replaced by Kasia Haddad. Alongside the snap, Andrew wrote: “Were we ever that young? This is the #Balamory gang outside the The Mish Nish in #Tobermory during our first visit, while filming in 2002. So great to see us all together out of costume. Always smiling #pcplum. I'm sure we went straight into that pub after this photo was taken."

And even though it's been 20 years since the first show aired, there have been calls of a Balamory cast reunion. Kim Tserkezie, who played Penny Pocket in the show, mentioned plans of a reunion in Newcastle to Chronicle Live.

She said: "We don't see each other as much as we would like because we are all dotted around the country and in the States but we have always stayed in touch.

"I have been speaking to Juliet Cadzow, who plays Edie McCredie, and she was saying, 'why don't we have a reunion and all come to Newcastle?' Can you imagine how much fun that would be bringing everyone to Newcastle? I am totally up for that."

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Balamory, BBC iPlayer made episodes of the show available to stream on August 30.
