A motoring expert has warned drivers failing to clean bird mess off their vehicle could cost them hundreds of pounds. Droppings are not just an unpleasant occurrence for motorists, their acidic nature can damage paintwork too.
And failing to take action in time can end up landing you with a hefty bill for having to redo the paintwork. Andrew Jervis, CEO of online vehicle repair marketplace ClickMechanic, said: “Bird mess is one of the unfortunate inevitabilities of owning a vehicle.
“Yes, it can be unpleasant to deal with, but failing to clean it off promptly can cause damage to the paintwork and land you with an equally unpleasant bill further down the line. With a PH level of around 4, it can burn through the clear coat top layer and eat away at the paintwork.
