A bakery has created what it reckons is the UK's biggest doughnut, weighing in as much as a baby calf and containing a gut-busting 170,000 calories - the same as 740 mars bars. The one-off whopper was made under special commission by bakery Project D for a surprise 40th birthday gift.
Marc Brough decided on the birthday cake for his wife Rebecca after he ordered 1,000 doughnuts for his employees the week before. The monster doughnut measures 1.5 metres in diameter and weighs a mammoth 40kg - the same as a baby calf.
Unsurprisingly the cake is crammed with 169,342 calories - the same as 740 mars bars or 1,400 large bananas. The potential record-breaker is filled with both raspberry jam and a chocolate filling and features a seemingly endless list of toppings. Vanilla cream, chocolate icing, chocolate fudge brownies, raspberries, golden Dairy Milk chunks and swirls of caramel cream all adorn the top of the monster cake.
