Former first-overall pick Baker Mayfield is set to make his second start for the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. The news comes after Mayfield led an improbable comeback against the Las Vegas Raiders in the Rams’ last matchup after being claimed by Los Angeles just days prior.
Buy Packers TicketsRams’ HC Sean McVay told reporters that QB John Wolford has a neck injury expected to sideline him Monday night in Green Bay. This means the Rams’ starting QB vs. the Packers, to no one’s surprise, will be Baker Mayfield.

The Packers will have their hands full against the defending Super Bowl champions in primetime, and should not take the challenge of playing the Rams lightly despite Los Angeles’ paltry 4-9 record. Green Bay will have the home-field advantage for the matchup and will need to capitalize on every opportunity that the Rams present them to secure their sixth win of the 2022 season.
Los Angeles hosts a talented offensive roster that can make teams pay if they don’t play sticky coverage against their highly-capable receiving corps led by Cooper Kupp. They have the speed to take the top off of any defense with the likes of Tutu Atwell and have some scrappy up-and-comers for Mayfield to target in Van Jefferson and Ben Skowronek.
Cornerback Jaire Alexander and the rest of Green Bay’s secondary should prepare for an all-out assault through the air given the Rams’ struggle to run the ball in 2022. The Packers’ pass rush will need to put pressure on Mayfield from the opening whistle to keep his improvisational abilities at bay and prevent him from taking over the game as he did against the Raiders.
Matt LaFleur and his coaching staff can’t afford to lose another game this season, and this struggling Los Angeles team is outmatched by Green Bay on paper. Anything less than a win in Week 15 would be a serious disappointment to the Packers faithful as the season winds to a close.
