The Los Angeles Rams claimed Baker Mayfield off waivers on Tuesday and it could be a quick turnaround for the former first-round pick to get his first action with his new team. Despite only having a couple of days to get acclimated, Mayfield is expected to be active for the Rams on Thursday night versus the Las Vegas Raiders.
He also has a “real chance” to play, according to Tom Pelissero.
New #Rams QB Baker Mayfield is expected to be active tonight vs. the #Raiders and there’s a real chance he plays, per sources. His role will depend in part on how John Wolford (questionable, neck) is feeling. Mayfield got in Tuesday night and is up to speed on the full game plan.

Sean McVay said Wednesday that he was leaning toward Mayfield being active but given the short turnaround, him actually playing would be pretty surprising.
It remains to be seen if Mayfield draws the start at quarterback for the Rams as John Wolford is questionable with a neck ailment. If Wolford is inactive, we could maybe see a combination of Mayfield and Bryce Perkins under center so Mayfield isn’t immediately thrown into the fray.
When the Rams claimed Mayfield off of waivers, they took on the rest of his $1.35 million this season and the hope is for him to be the starting quarterback down the stretch. With Mayfield looking to revive his career, his first chance to improve his stock in free agency could begin on Thursday against the Raiders.
