A baby who was found safe after being kidnapped with his twin brother while their mother went into a takeaway pizza store has died. Little Kyair Thomas tragically passed away on Saturday in an unrelated incident after officers responded to reports of a baby not breathing at a home in Columbus, Ohio.
The six-month-old baby was taken to hospital but he was sadly pronounced dead around 11:45pm, the Mirror reports. He and his brother Kasson were brought to national media attention last month when they were both kidnapped on December 19 after their mother left them alone in a vehicle outside Donatos Pizza in Columbus.
Kyair was located at around 4.40am the following morning when he was found abandoned at the Dayton International Airport, which is over 70 miles away from the city. Suspect Nalah Tamiko Jackson, 24, is currently facing two federal charges of kidnapping a minor.
Officers believe the homeless woman had been inside the pizzeria but walked out once the mother had came inside. According to police, CCTV footage captured the moment Jackson allegedly abandoned Kyair in his car seat in the airport car park.
Kason Thomas was located three days later inside the same 2010 Honda Accord vehicle he went missing in which had been left outside a Papa John's. Little Kyair has now sadly died in unrelated circumstances last weekend in what his family have described as a tragic feeding accident.
Wilma Booker, the aunt of the twins' mum said: "I am like in a state of shock for real. I literally, I really am. I am devastated I'm hurt". Describing what happened, she explained that she was feeding the twins "one of them started choking on the milk".
She said the mother dialled emergency services while performing CPR on her son in an attempt to resuscitate him. She said: "It was just like an accident that happened from feeding the babies and that was it". A police investigation is currently ongoing.
