Baby found dead in home after medical emergency as police launch probe

A baby has died after emergency calls were made, police have said.

Cleveland Police and North East Ambulance Service and rushed to a home in Guisborough, North Yorkshire, on Thursday morning.

The force issued a statement, confirming that an infant had passed away, reports TeessideLive.

However, the circumstances remain unclear.

The force said: "Police were called to a property on Derby Road in Guisborough around 8.15am on Thursday by ambulance service colleagues who were in attendance at a medical emergency.

"Sadly, a short time later a baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the child at this very difficult time.

"The family have asked to be left alone at this time to grieve in peace.

"Police had remained at the scene for several hours following the call, including three marked police vehicles and a CID vehicle."

The ambulance service confirmed it had sent three vehicles to the street following a call.
