Baby girl's decomposed body found in dresser in abandoned building as mum charged

The mum of a toddler found dead at the bottom of a dresser drawer in an abandoned building has now been charged in connection to the child's death.

The body of missing one-year-old Oaklee Snow was found in Morgan County, Indiana, after she was reported missing from Oklahoma in January.

Morgan County Coroner’s Office has ruled the girl died by homicide from "unspecified means."

The girl's mum Madison Marshall has now been charged with two counts of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and assisting a criminal.

Her boyfriend Roan Waters had already been charged with murder and multiple neglect-related charges.

Investigators have not yet released specifics as to how the girl died.

Marshall told police that Waters killed the girl and the couple then moved her body to Morgan County in February.

Oaklee's body was found on April 21 ending a national search.

The child was first taken from her dad's home without his consent in January.

The girl's dad reported her and another child missing from his home in Cromwell, Oklahoma.

The father said Marshall and Waters took his children and were allegedly heading to Indianapolis.

Waters was arrested in Colorado on an outstanding warrant on March 3 and it is believed Marshall was staying with him at the time.

Marshall was tracked to North Carolina where she was arrested.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said: "As parents, we have a duty to protect our children.

"Not only did these two individuals fail to live up to that responsibility, but the allegations in the probable cause affidavit indicate that Oaklee suffered a horrific death and an abandonment that diminished the dignity that any child deserves.

"I want to thank the multiple law enforcement agencies and our prosecutors who worked tirelessly to locate this child and seek justice on her behalf."

The couple stayed at a drug house in Indianapolis from late January into February, according to the police.

They allegedly abandoned the boy at the house before Waters’ family took him into care and returned him to his father in Oklahoma.

A neighbour told police they had seen Marshall and Waters leaving the drug house with “what looked like a child wrapped in a blanket,” documents revealed.

The witness said the child did not appear to be moving, talking or crying.

Investigators previously said they believed that the girl was likely dead and the couple later disposed of her body somewhere in Indiana.

In the new charging documents, investigators described Marshall leading police “hysterical and sobbing” to an abandoned home in the outskirts of Morgantown, where the body of her daughter was found.

The remains were badly decomposed but appeared to be a blonde-haired girl.

A positive ID of the girl has yet to be made.

Court documents said that Oaklee Snow likely died on February 9.
