A baby has been diagnosed with a disease which is almost wiped out in the UK with her parents struggling to discover where she caught it. Raine Johnson tested positive for typhoid fever after taking ill with what was thought to be a viral infection.
The diagnosis took both medics and the family by surprise as there are just 300 cases a year in the UK. Most of these are in people who have become infected while visiting relatives places such as Bangladesh, India or Pakistan, according to the NHS.
And with the family not having any such links or visits to those areas it has left them stumped as she how to caught it. Now her mum is speaking out to warn others in case the same thing happens to them or a member of their family.
