B/R provides a reason for optimism around the Saints in 2024

The national opinion around the New Orleans Saints has been pessimistic to say the least. They have become afterthoughts in a division that is an afterthought. Even after a winning season, it doesn’t seem like people believe in New Orleans to take another step forward.

Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon is changing that. He is looking for a reason to not overlook each of the 32 teams. Finding that reason can be harder for some teams than others. For the Saints, success revolves around continuing last season’s late momentum. Here’s what Kenyon had to say:

The volatility of New Orleans’ scoring attack stung the team’s postseason hopes in 2023. Down the stretch, though, the Saints put together a quality 4-1 run. Derek Carr tossed 14 touchdowns with two interceptions, and the defense held its opponent to 17 points or less in each win. Starting the 2024 campaign in a similar way is imperative but doable.

The thing about the Saints’ late-season stretch is their strength of competition wasn’t great. The loss to the Loss Angeles Rams felt like a test and the Saints failed. On the flip side, New Orleans defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers handily. Those were the two quality opponents and resulted in mixed results.

Let’s take Kenyon’s lead and remain positive. The Saints offense found their groove late in the season and Klint Kubiak inherited some momentum to build off of. Most importantly, Carr began to find chemistry with his playmakers. That is one aspect that can transfer despite changing systems.
