B&M shoppers share tips on bagging top bargains - and we've all been doing it wrong

When you're shopping for a bargain, you might find yourself gravitating toward shops like B&M, which are known for their low prices on a range of products.

But did you know there are even bigger deals to be found at B&M than just the regular priced items?

Being clever with your shopping trips and visiting your local store at certain times of day could help you save more money, and there are plenty of Facebook groups dedicated to letting people know exactly what's on offer.

And while the store does host mega sales, that some shoppers have worked out there are "secret" discounts available too - as long as you know what you're looking for.

But what is the best way to bag a bargain at B&M? According to The Sun, it all depends on when you shop, and how you shop.

What day of the week should you shop?

For most people looking to get their hands on a good deal, shopping on a specific day of the week can be a big help, as some shops will have certain days where they slap their reduced stickers on items.

However, at B&M it works differently - some products are marked down in price every single day, and more than 650 shops stock brand-new items every day too.

Shoppers have speculated on Facebook forums such as the Latest Deals, Extreme Couponing & Bargains Group group that Tuesday is the day where staff most often reduce food, pet items, and cleaning products.

While Thursdays and Saturdays are thought to be the best times to shop for old stock and seasonal items.

The Sun claims the retailer told them it will often make a deal with a supplier and have the item in the store the very next day, so it's a good idea to try your chances throughout the week.

Is there a specific time you should shop?

While shopping on specific days might not yield any special results, the earlier you do your shopping the better your chances of bagging a deal are going to be.

Staff start reducing items at around 7:30 am, so whatever day of the week you choose to shop, you'll want to get up bright and early to be one of the first in line.

Items that are reduced are often the last of the shop's stock, meaning if you arrive late, you might find that you've missed out.

Is there anything that makes shopping easier?

For the tech-savvy among us, there's actually an app you can download that loyal B&M shoppers swear helps them find items that have had their prices severely slashed.

B&M's barcode scanner is a free app that lets you see if an item's price is cheaper than advertised on the shop shelf, and it has helped customers find "secret" bargains around the store.

Obviously, scanning every item you might want to buy is time-consuming, but the members of the Facebook group B&M Scanner And Other Bargains claim they've found items for 10p using this method - so it's worth the effort.

How can you keep track of offers?

If visiting your local B&M every day hoping to find a deal isn't your idea of fun, there are other ways to keep track of what's on offer.

Signing up for the B&M newsletter is a great way to hear about the store's latest offers before everyone else, and you can also browse the online catalogue to scope out any bargains before you make the trip to a physical store.

There are also deal finder tools such as Hotukdeals or Latestdeals that could help you track down a saving - all you need to do is visit their website and search "B&M".
