Ayrshire stands ready today to offer sanctuary and support to Ukrainians fleeing invading Russian forces.

All three council cabinets confirmed they are willing to offer practical humanitarian help to those displaced by the conflict.

The Ayrshire-wide response follows an open letter from the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) to all local authority chief executives asking for their positions on offering sanctuary should the UK Government enhance its current support.
