An Ayrshire primary school has been given the thumbs-up from Her Majesty's inspectors.
Dalrymple Primary School, in the village’s Hillview, received a glowing report — with praise also reserved for the head teacher, Simon Leitch.
The inspectors said the school, under the leadership of Mr Leitch, had developed ‘a culture where children, families and staff feel valued.”
The follow-up visit by inspectors focused on progress that had been made addressing areas of improvement that had been identified previously.
They engaged with staff, parents and carers and most importantly, the children and young people.
The inspector found that staff had supported children and their families well throughout the pandemic, that the new head teacher and his depute led their teams well and that they had ‘rightly prioritised a whole school focus on wellbeing’, and the children and young people have made progress in their learning.
They also concluded that the school and early childhood centre (ECC) had made good progress addressing areas for improvement and that the school and ECC work well together with a sense of ‘team’ across the school.
Councillor Elaine Cowan, cabinet member for lifelong learning, education and skills and culture said: “I am delighted for head teacher Simon Leitch and his team that Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education has issued such a positive report and I wish to congratulate everyone involved.
“The inspectors observed ‘happy and confident children’ and this reflects the ethos of the school and the exceptional support provided to our children and young people, and their parents and carers, throughout the pandemic.”
