A man has died after being found in an Ayrshire harbour this afternoon.
Emergency services raced to Saltcoats harbour just after 1pm and a 65-year-old was taken from the water.
But police have confirmed this evening that the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Officers say there appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but enquiries are still ongoing at this stage.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Saltcoats Harbour at 1.15pm on Monday, June 27.
“A 65-year-old man was taken from the water but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
"Enquiries into the incident are on-going but there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.”
