Ayrshire garden centre revamp plans reveal cafe and restaurant bid

An Ayrshire garden centre could be expanded to include a new cafe and restaurant.

Plans for a major revamp of Sunnyside Nursery in Kilwinning have been lodged with North Ayrshire Council.

It is proposed that a new building at the business' base in Hazel Grove be created to house the garden centre and florist business – with the the existing property extended and and converted into an eaterie and multi-purpose space for small events/meetings.

The plans also include additional parking to allow for 45 spaces with five for disabled motorists.

Sunnyside bosses believe there is a need to diversify the business to meet demand from their customers.

A design statement supporting the proposal says: "Sunnyside Garden Centre is a popular business with customers from all over Ayrshire and Scotland at large consisting of a successful florist, garden centre and nursery.

"To accommodate the growing popularity of the centre, the owner is proposing to enlarge and diversify the business through this proposed development."

North Ayrshire Council planners will rule on the application at a later date.
