An Ayrshire beach has been sealed off to the public with a number of police officers at the scene.
Officers are currently probing Troon beach with South Beach car park taped off and closed to residents and visitors.
A large number of police were said to be in and around the town last night.
A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “There was a lot of police around last night in the town and people were being stopped going on to the beach.
“South Beach Car park has been closed and there is tape around it.”
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
