Aymeric Laporte snubs all but two Man City stars as he ties the knot in glamorous wedding

Aymeric Laporte appeared to invite just two of his Manchester City teammates as he got married in a romantic ceremony.

The Spanish defender tied the knot to long-term partner Sara Botello in Spain during the off-season. A number of images of the day itself were shared on social media and it appeared to reveal that Laporte was very selective over which teammates he wanted at his wedding.

City’s Norwegian hitman Erling Haaland was in attendance and donned a smart, blue suit. He was joined by girlfriend Isabel Johansen - the pair having partied wearing matching silk pyjamas during the club’s title celebrations.

Spanish midfielder Rodri - the scorer of the winning goal in the Champions League final - was also in attendance throughout the day. Whilst the trio were celebrating Laporte’s marriage, the same cannot quite be said of a vast array of his City teammates.

Kevin De Bruyne, Nathan Ake and Ilkay Gundogan were both spotted in Ibiza earlier this month, with the latter also putting the final touches on his free transfer move to Barcelona following the expiry of his City deal. Goalkeeper Ederson has also been enjoying a holiday in Abu Dhabi.

Another intriguing post of Premier League stars donning fancy suits also appears to have all-but confirmed an imminent transfer at the Etihad Stadium. Chelsea forward Kai Havertz took to Twitter with a picture of him alongside teammate Mateo Kovavic both wearing suits.

That was accompanied by the caption “we’re ready”. Both players have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge - Kovacic on the verge of a £30m move to Man City, whilst the German forward is subject of interest from Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta recently broke his silence on a deal for Havertz and whilst he stopped short of confirming whether the former Bayer Leverkusen man was a target, he did admit his admiration.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Marca, the Arsenal boss said: "Talent comes at a price, and at Arsenal we are always interested in youngsters with experience.

"I repeat, I'm not talking about players from other clubs, but in the case of Kai he has already shown a lot, including in the Champions League. He is a talented player, versatile and only 24 years old."

Back to Laporte, the Spaniard could also potentially be on the move this summer. The 29-year-old only made 12 Premier League appearances for City during the 2022/23 campaign - four of those coming in the last five games of the season.

Should he decide to leave then City could choose to replace him with RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. The Croatian has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few years.
