Aymeric Laporte has made his disappointment clear after being snubbed from the PFA Team of the Year - and Manchester City have dropped a timely montage of the defender on their Twitter account.
On Thursday night, the PFA announced its yearly awards that saw Mohamed Salah crowned as player of the year while Phil Foden scooped the prize of young player of the year. However, there was controversy with fans divided from all sides after the team of the year was revealed.
Despite winning the Premier League, only three City players were included - Joao Cancelo, Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. In comparison, Liverpool had six named - Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago Alcantara, Sadio Mane and Salah.
Many could not believe that Heung-min Son - who won the Golden Boot this season without a single penalty - was totally omitted while others were bamboozled by the choice of Thiago - who played just 25 times - over Rodri.
But one player who was clearly left incensed was Laporte, who took to Instagram to argue his case that he should have been nominated for a spot in the squad. In a series of images posted to his story, he denoted a number of key stats.
They included highest passing accuracy in the Premier League, the highest number of accurate passes per 90 minutes, the most completed passes in the league, most centre-back goals, most points in the Premier League history from first 100 games and most 'last-man' tackles.
City also dropped a well-timed video on Twitter showing all of Laporte's best moments from the season. While not necessarily saying so, it was a clear dig at the 28-year-old's absence from the PFA Team of the year.
The Spain international continued his fury with his latest tweets as well, posting a GIF of Jose Mourinho of all people. It denoted his now-infamous post-match press conference where he said: "I prefer really not to speak. If I speak I am in big trouble and I don't want to be in trouble."
City finished as Premier League champions last season having pipped Liverpool by one point in a tense battle at the top. Despite the Reds coming so close, they never truly took the lead in the race - though they did come closer than many believed when Pep Guardiola's men stretched their lead to 15 points over the festive period.
However, Liverpool did finish the season with silverware with the FA Cup and Carabao Cup - both won on penalties against Chelsea - in the bag. City, on the other hand, will be disappointed they did not manage to face their Premier League rivals in the Champions League.
Real Madrid knocked them out after an incredible display at the Bernabeu to go on and beat Jurgen Klopp's men in Paris after Vinicius Jr scored the only goal of the match.
City will hope that the signing of Erling Haaland, which is yet to be confirmed, could push them on to win European titles.
