Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho add to Man City injury troubles ahead of West Ham

Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho are both doubtful for Sunday's game with West Ham after being forced off in the win over Wolves.

Manchester City won 5-1 with Kevin De Bruyne particularly sensational as they moved three points ahead of Liverpool to mean four points from the final two matches will guarantee them a fourth league title in five years. However, Pep Guardiola could have even fewer options in defence for West Ham and possibly Aston Villa after seeing two more players suffer injuries.

Already without Kyle Walker, John Stones and Ruben Dias for the final two matches, the City manager watched on as Laporte was clattered by Raul Jimenez in a late tackle and couldn't continue, before Fernandinho complained of a muscular problem. Both will have to be assessed in the coming days and Guardiola did not sound upbeat when he spoke after the match.

"Apparently it doesn't look good," the manager said. "[There are ] some muscular problems for Fernandinho and if it is something he will be difficult for Sunday. Ayme had a tough knock on his knee. We will see how they recover on Sunday."

Rodri finished the win over Wolves at centre-back and Nathan Ake came off the bench to mark his return from injury. Both men will likely be needed on Sunday if there is no positive injury news for Laporte and Fernandinho, although academy defender Luke Mbete has also been on the bench regularly in the second half of the campaign.
