An award-winning hairdresser is encouraging other mums to chase their career dreams after is setting up shop in her home village.
Louise Hughes has owned salons since she was in her twenties and is is returning to her family roots to own and run Canvass Hair in Bridge of Weir.
Louise has won several awards, the first one being Best Salon Design in 2015, after the second salon she owned was fully done up with walls being knocked down and steel beams being put in to make it an attractive place to get your locks done.

Louise, 40, said: “I started hairdressing when I was 18 in a salon in Bridge of Weir, where the new salon is now. After completing my training, I then went self-employed. I then started opening my own businesses as of when I was 27.
“The business I own now is called Canvass Hair. The owner took on early retirement and passed the business onto myself. My daughter is in primary one and I was looking for a new adventure.
"I am starting over again by taking on a new challenge now that both my children are now in school.”
In 2016, Louise won the award for Best Salon in Scotland and in 2017, then went on to win the Confetti Awards for Best Wedding Hair Stylist and has travelled to Italy and Cyprus to do hair for weddings.
The salon uses Wella products and Louise had to complete a course in order to become a colour expert.
She added: “I am a Wella Master Colour Expert . It is equivalent to a degree in hair colouring. It takes around two years to complete - I am fully qualified in that side of things.”
Louise wants other mums to realise they can achieve their goals and make their dreams come true too.
She explained: "I want to be a good role model for my kids, I want them to see that their mum is strong and independent and give them the life that they deserve. It can be quite a challenging time, currently, but there is always a chance to get your foot in the door and follow your dreams.
"Just give it a go, why not? Sometimes you just need to take a chance."
