The award-winning Asha’s is set to reopen its doors next week. The restaurant will be part of the new hotel Forty Seven, which is set to open on Peter Street.
Opening night will be August 10, with reservations now open, and a special event to commemorate 75 years of Indian independence is also planned for August 15.
The restaurant is so-named after Bollywood icon Asha Bhosle, who founded the chain in 2002 and which has branches around the world. She was also, of course, the inspiration for the hit song by Cornershop, Brimful of Asha.
The special Independence Day event will start at 6pm, with drinks at the hotel’s new Peterman Bar coupled with traditional music and dhol players and gajra flower garlands. There will then be a three course dinner from 7pm, devised by new head chef Rajesh Bhatt.
The Forty Seven Hotel is part of the Kro group of hotels, which also owns the Velvet Hotel on Canal Street. It’s being opened in Lancashire House, the grade II listed former shipping warehouse on Peter Street.
The boutique spot will have 32 rooms, with a mix of original and bold new features, as well as the new Peterman Bar. KRO Hospitality owner Kim Eivind Krohn told the M.E.N: "We had to do the building justice and we wanted to make it a little bit different. Velvet's success is the design and the service; we want to do the same thing here, but make it a bit more modern."
