Award winning Indian restaurant opens second Ayrshire venue

An award winning Ayrshire curry house has opened its second eatery as it embarks on a new chapter.

3idiots swung open the doors to a brand new venture in Troon on Wednesday.

The popular Ayr restaurant was crowned curry king of Scotland when they scooped the award as they scooped Outstanding Restaurant of the year at the Curry Awards.

Now hot on the heels of that milestone achievement, co-owners Guri Gurchet Singh, 31, from Kilmarnock and Parveen Sharma, 47, from Stewarton have embarked on a new chapter for the business.

Taken from a famous Bollywood film, 3idiots have set the Ayrshire curry scene alight with their authentic dishes and tandoori specialities.

Now they have launched their second venture previously occupied by the Swan restaurant in Portland Street.

They pair have given the diner a facelift with new furniture and a fresh lick of paint.

Punters were invited down on an official launch day on Wednesday, with a spread of pakora put out and a clash of Scottish and Indian music was played, with a piper and an authentic Indian drummer performing.

Guri told Ayrshire Live: “The day was really good, lots of local people turned up.

“We did a small opening thing, we put some pakoras out. It was just a wee celebration to welcome everyone.

“We are really excited to open up in Troon. We’ve had customers from across Ayrshire telling us to open closer to them. Troon is closer to Kilmarnock, it is closer to Irvine and North Ayrshire, it also means our fans in Troon can come enjoy our food now.”

Guri is excited to be the new kid on the block of Troon’s food scene.

And he believes the location of the new 3idiots could be perfectly timed.

He added: “Of course we are aware that the Open will come to Troon in 2024. That is going to be a great occasion for us.

“We’ve come a long way since we first opened in Ayr. This is the next chapter for us and we can’t wait to get started.”

Guri has told how punters are already booking up.

He added: “Right now we can take bookings for large groups, we’re already very busy, we can take smaller groups on a first come first served basis.”
