Award-winning Chinese restaurant Lu Ban taken over

Lu Ban has been acquired by St Helens company Mikhail Hotel & Leisure Group.

The award-winning Chinese Restaurant, found on Stanhope Street in the Baltic Triangle, has joined the Mikhail Group with immediate effect. Mikhail owns a number of venues in the Baltic, including Irish pub Punch Tarmey's, The Brewery Tap, ArCains, as well as other establishments around the region, including Doctor Duncan's in the city centre and the Lord Street Hotel in Southport.

Led by chef Dave Critchley, Lu Ban was a Gold Award winner at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2022 and Restaurant of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards. Having opened in 2019, the restaurant became known for its chef's table experience, where food is prepared right in front of customers.

About the acquisition, Dave said: "I am thrilled to join the Mikhail Group and be a part of this exciting new chapter for Lu Ban Restaurant. The acquisition is a testament to the hard work and dedication that our team has put into establishing Lu Ban as a renowned establishment.

"With the Mikhail Group’s backing, we are poised to further enhance Lu Ban’s reputation as a premier destination for authentic regional Chinese cuisine."
