Ole Blue Eyes Frank Sinatra was one of the most best-loved entertainers of his generation.
The news earlier this year that a musical about his life - and the first to be officially approved by his estate - was hitting the UK created a buzz all over the world.
Now The Mirror can exclusively reveal the actor who has beaten hundreds to play the icon.
Acclaimed Tony Award-winning Matt Doyle will play the My Way crooner in Sinatra The Musical, running at The Birmingham Rep from September 23 until October 28.
This new musical features 20 actors and 17 musicians performing over 25 of Sinatra’s most legendary songs.
The show’s world premiere in Birmingham coincides with the 70th Anniversary of Sinatra’s 1953 UK tour, which saw him perform in the city.
Frank's daughter and co- producer Tina Sinatra reveals: "Sinatra is the first look musical to take an honest look at my father's life, so the question people kept asking -- who could possibly play him?
"From the moment Matt Doyle swaggered into the audition room, he owned the role. Not only did he naturally possess Frank's warmth and charm, Matt understood my father's complexities. And once he began to sing, we knew we had found our Frank!
"In addition to his extraordinary talent Matt also possesses an intuitive sensitivity about life that will help reveal the man behind the legend. I can't wait to see him in the role at Birmingham Rep in the fall! I know Dad will be proud of him."
Tina added: "For the first time, we're going to give you a perspective on my father that you've never seen before.”
The 36-year-old's Broadway credits also include Tony-winning Musical The Book of Mormon (in the lead role of Elder Price) and Spring Awakening; War Horse; and the revival of musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie.
After winning the role, Matt Doyle said: "I have no doubt my Italian grandmothers would be profoundly overjoyed. This one is for Geraldine Padula and Nicoletta Macchia who raised my family and me on Frank’s music."
Born Francis Albert Sinatra in New Jersey to Italian immigrants, the US singer and actor had a career spanning 54 years releasing 297 singles.
The star married first wife, Nancy Barbato in 1939.
The couple had three children - Nancy Sinatra, born in June 1940; Frank Sinatra Jr., who was born in January 1944 but sadly died in March 2016, and Christina "Tina" Sinatra, born in June 1948.
Frank died in 1998 aged 82.
