Obsidian has released Avowed patch 2.0, a one-year anniversary update that significantly expands character creation and endgame replayability. The update is live now on all platforms, and it arrives alongside Avowed’s PlayStation 5 launch.
The biggest headline feature is New Game+. After finishing the main story, players can start a new run while carrying forward unlocked abilities (godlike abilities are still tied to progression), spent attribute points, and unique gear.
Unique weapons and armor carry over but reset to level 1, while unlocked enchantments remain available. Companions still need to be recruited through the story again, but they retain their talent points and restart at level 1.
Obsidian also built NG+ around higher difficulty scaling. Enemy stats are increased, enemies can spawn with modifiers, including elemental and physical variants, and the attribute cap rises from 15 to 30, so that the players keep up with tougher fights.
The update includes an important caveat, as NG+ needs an updated completion save created after patch 2.0 is installed, which means loading a point-of-no-return save and completing the game again.
Character creation is getting a meaningful shake-up as well. Avowed now supports all five Eoran kith species as playable options, adding Aumaua, Dwarves, and Orlans to the existing Humans and Elves. Each species now also comes with stat bonuses, and backgrounds also grant a stat boost to push build variety further. For players mid-campaign, there’s a new Magic Mirror in the Party Camp that allows appearance changes at any time, including switching species.

On the feature side, Photo Mode is now available from the pause menu with camera controls, filters, and post-processing options.
Avowed initially came out on February 18, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and Windows. Exactly a year later, the game is now available on the PlayStation 5 console as well, and all the changes from the 2.0 version are included already.
