Aviva Siegel, the wife of American hostage Kieth Siegel and a former hostage herself, is urging all parties involved in the negotiations to secure the release of her husband and other hostages who have been held by Hamas for over 440 days in dire conditions.
In an emotional interview, Aviva expressed deep concern for her husband's well-being after seeing a video released by Hamas in April, where Keith appeared frail and malnourished. Aviva, who was also held captive by Hamas, emphasized the harsh conditions the hostages endure, recalling her own experience of facing death while in captivity.
Aviva and Keith were abducted from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in October 2023 and held together for 51 days before Aviva's release due to a severe stomach infection. Since then, Aviva has tirelessly advocated for Keith's release, meeting with officials in the U.S. and Israel and becoming a prominent voice for the hostages.
Efforts are underway by top security officials from the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar to broker a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas for the return of the hostages. Negotiators are reportedly working towards a potential exchange involving a significant number of hostages.
While there is optimism about the hostages' eventual return, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged caution, noting the need for Hamas to make a decisive commitment. Despite challenges, Aviva remains hopeful for the safe return of all hostages and dreams of reuniting with her husband and witnessing their grandchildren embrace him once again.
The families of the hostages eagerly await the day when their loved ones will be reunited, hoping for a resolution that will bring joy and relief to all those affected by this prolonged ordeal.
