Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo have praised the under wraps costume of Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, but stopped short of revealing details about the villain's outfit.
Speaking at SXSW London (via Variety), the Russos declared Doctor Doom's get-up as their favorite from the Marvel movies they have directed (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame precede the upcoming Doomsday).
Joe Russo, though, wasn't keen on sharing further details, adding, "You’ll have to see."
Anthony Russo chimed in, "It’s representative of the character in a way that the costume and the character really, really fit."
In recent years, Downey Jr. has posted artwork of Doctor Doom for both Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day, though it's unclear if the garb of the Latverian ruler is reflective of the final version that will be seen in Avengers: Doomsday. A promotional image of Doom from a separate Disney event was quickly debunked, however.
Lucky attendees at CinemaCon will have spied Doom in the behind-closed doors Doomsday trailer, but there have been no leaks as of yet. Fans had got their hopes up for a trailer earlier this week after the announcement of a pop-up event, but the only beans spilled there were coffee beans – thanks to the giveaway of autographed bags of coffee.
The first look at Doctor Doom in action, then, may arrive at Marvel's Hall H panel at July's San Diego Comic-Con.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in cinemas on December 18. For more, check out the other upcoming Marvel movies currently in the works.
