It's been four years since sports climbing came into the Olympic fold at Tokyo Games in 2021. But the sport still struggles for attention in India. However, that didn't deter 12-year-old Avani Yerragunta from giving wing to her dream in the sport. What started as a hobby at home, is now her passion.
The VII standard student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's in Jubilee Hills wants to r each greater heights - pun intended. "I started to climb rocks and trees at home. My parents were scared that I would get injured. So, on my 10th birthday, they took me to Crag Studio in Gachibowli. That is how it all started," Avani told TOI on Monday.
