Autumnwatch viewers disheartened after discovering major change to BBC show

Viewers of BBC nature show Autumnwatch have shared their disappointment after discovering when the latest series will end.

The BBC Two series returned on Thursday night featuring a snap shot of creatures all over the country.

The show also informs viewers about how animals cope and thrive in the changing weather, with hidden cameras and trackers recording some eye-opening moments.

Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan appeared live on one of the latest episodes at Wild Ken Hill, with the macro studio set up to showcase bugs and insects.

And the show even teamed up with Children in Need, meeting nature-loving siblings Sophia and Leo, who were dealing with cancer.

But viewers took to Twitter as they discovered that the series only consisted of four episodes.

One viewer wrote: "Err…. Only 4 episodes of #Autumnwatch this year???."

Another wrote: "Why is #AutumnWatch such a short series this time!? Shows like this is exactly what we need at times like this."

A third penned: "Can’t believe #autumnwatch is only for 4 nights & it’s the last one tomorrow. Roll on spring for @BBCSpringwatch."

But a quick schedule check shows that last series was actually the same length — just four episodes, but it's counterpart seasonal offering of Springwatch has a much longer run, with the 2022 series airing across 12 episodes.

Meanwhile other viewers told earlier this week how they were left distracted by presenter Michaela's 'age-defying' appearance.

The former GMTV, and Wide Awake Club presenter - also a regular reporter for BBC One's Countryfile is actually 56-year-old but fans claimed she hadn't changed a bit.

One person wrote: “Michaela Strachan is a national treasure really, she hasn't aged since i used to watch her on the really wild show.”

Another said: “Wow Michaela doesn’t age, she looks so good for her age.”

And a third penned:”Ok it’s official Michaela Strachan doesn’t age.”

The presenter previously told how she was stuck in South Africa and was unable to return back to the UK because of the coronavirus lockdown, so missed 2020 Springwatch and 2021 Winterwatch season.

Autumnwatch ends tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.
