A counsellor who used imagery of a gravestone in a therapy session with an autistic man who died by suicide shortly after, has apologised to the father. Benjamin Davis, 22 from Prestwich took his own life a few months after seeing the gravestone image, having ‘never got over that experience’, his father said.
Benjamin was found by his father Reuven at his home on November 23, having tried to end his life. He died in Salford Royal Hospital five days later.
Private counsellor Avremi Rosenberg admitted during an inquest on April 13, that he should have used different wording in Benjamin’s session. The counsellor also acknowledged that the language was ‘inappropriate’.
