A 21-year-old Austrian man has been charged with plotting to commit a terror attack during one of Taylor Swift’s Vienna Eras Tour concerts in 2024.
On Monday, a spokesperson for the Vienna public prosecutors offfice confirmed that the main suspect — who Austrian media have identified as Beran A — has been charged with plotting an attack during one of Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour shows in Vienna, slated for August 2024.
Swift initially had three tour dates in Vienna during the Europe leg of her Eras Tour. However, they were all cancelled by authorities following an investigation by US intelligence, resulting in the arrest of three suspects, 9News reports.
Prosecutors allege the suspect of declaring allegiance to the Islamic State by sharing propaganda material and videos through messaging services, and obtaining instructions on how to make a shrapnel bomb and creating a small amount of the explosive.

Beran A was also accused of allegedly making “several attempts” to purchase weapons illegally outside of Austria and bring them into the country.
Per The Guardian, he is also alleged to be involved in the planning of attacks in other countries — including Dubai and Istanbul — however, they never happened.
On August 22, 2024, Swift shared a lengthy Instagram post, describing the cancellation of the Vienna dates as “devastating”.

“The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” Swift wrote.
“But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
If Beran A is found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
