Australian skateboarder Chloe Covell, at just 14 years old, is quickly rising to the top of women's street skateboarding. Inspired by Nyjah Huston and mentored by Tommy Fynn, Covell started skateboarding only seven years ago.
In 2022, she made her mark with a bronze at X Games Chiba and a seventh-place finish at World Street Skateboarding Rome. The following year, she secured second place at the Street World Championships Sharjah and the Rome World Skateboarding Tour Street stop.
Covell made history in 2023 as the youngest women's street gold medalist in X Games history. Currently ranked fourth globally, she is poised to represent Australia at the Paris Games.
She is gearing up for the Olympic Qualifier Series in Shanghai, aiming to secure a spot for Paris 2024. Covell's focus is on adding technical tricks to her repertoire, particularly on stairs, showcasing her proficiency in switch tricks.
Australia boasts a strong skateboarding contingent at the OQS, with Covell leading the charge in street. The qualification period ends on June 23, 2024, with national teams set to be announced soon after.
With a growing interest in women's skateboarding, Covell and her fellow Australian skaters are pushing the boundaries of the sport, inspiring a new generation of athletes.
