A new national study estimates that RSV vaccination during pregnancy was 77.8 percent effective at preventing infant hospitalization for RSV-associated lower respiratory tract disease through six months of age, a longer protection window than most previously published real-world estimates have measured.
The findings come from the STREETON study, published in JAMA Pediatrics and led by researchers at The Kids Research Institute Australia. It analyzed 1,012 infants six months or younger who were hospitalized with acute respiratory infection across nine Australian hospitals between March 2025 and February 2026.
