NEW DELHI: Michael Vaughan, former England captain, hailed Australia's World Cup victory as the finest in the tournament's history. Australia, staging an impressive comeback from a challenging start to their campaign, defeated a formidable India in front of an enthusiastic crowd of over one lakh.

Despite India entering the final with 10 consecutive wins and being the favorites, Australia executed a near-perfect game, securing their record-extending sixth title.
