Australia Day commemorations have moved away from the centre of Melbourne to local communities as a large crowd gathers for an Invasion Day rally through the city centre.

Official commemorations kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony at Government House, hosted by acting Premier Jacinta Allan and Governor Linda Dessau.
