These are exciting times for Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves.
This past season, he blossomed like a brilliant springtime rose, going from a player that had potential to one that tapped into it. He seemingly got better as the season wore on, and he was rewarded earlier this month with a new four-year contract worth over $50 million.
The undrafted Arkansas native also got his own signature sneaker, and soon he will represent Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. Head coach Steve Kerr has praised him and said that having him on the squad was an easy choice.
Reaves talked about how much he’s looking forward to the experience during an episode of the “All The Smoke” podcast.
Via Lakers Nation:
“It means a lot. Just to play for our country means a lot and I think we’ve put together a team’s that’s a team. Like, I feel like we got guys…we got guys, obviously guys that are real high level and then you got guys that kind of plug and play in there too. So super excited for it, I want to go learn as much as I can from all these guys and just hopefully go win.”
Perhaps Reaves will experience another growth spurt in his game and production this coming season after having the opportunity to showcase himself on a global stage.
