The last eight months have been very eventful for Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves.
After showing promise last season as a rookie, he took the next step early this season by dramatically improving his 3-point shooting and overall offensive efficiency. After the All-Star break, he rose to another level entirely, so much so that head coach Darvin Ham rewarded him with a spot in the team’s lineup.
This summer will also be eventful for the undrafted gem. He will be a restricted free agent, and by all accounts, he is about to earn a very nice contract, whether it’s with the Purple and Gold or another franchise.
In addition, he has reportedly committed to playing for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup late this summer.

“Team USA’s roster for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in the Philippines is beginning to take shape, and it will include at least four rising NBA stars making their American national team debut.
“Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards, Indiana Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Austin Reaves, Brooklyn Nets small forward Mikal Bridges, Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson have committed to play for Team USA, league sources told The Athletic.”
The Lakers will reportedly do whatever they can to keep Reaves on a new contract, especially if an offer sheet with another team doesn’t exceed $100 million.
