Friday brought a bit of a dark cloud for the Carolina Panthers, who did not have star outside linebacker Brian Burns at practice due to an elbow injury. But that didn’t stop a ray of hope from shining through.
Head coach Frank Reich confirmed that right guard Austin Corbett will be making his return to the field in Week 8 against the Houston Texans. Sunday will mark the first game of the season for the sixth-year offensive lineman, who tore his ACL in last year’s season finale in New Orleans.
Reich was asked what Corbett brings back to the team.
“Leadership, consistent play at a high level,” he replied. “He’s a real alpha leader. He just brings a confidence that you feel. You hear him out in the practice field between plays saying things that you know these great players, great leaders say. So, lookin’ forward to him bein’ in the lineup.”
Reich also noted that Calvin Throckmorton, who did not have a game designation for Sunday’s contest, will get the starting nod at left guard.
