A self-confessed perfectionist, rhythmic gymnast Alexandra Kiroi-Bogatyreva has vowed to embrace the bustling Birmingham crowd in her quest for an elusive Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Kiroi-Bogatyreva claimed bronze in the individual all-around final on Friday, less than 24 hours after leading Australia to team silver.
The 20-year-old lamented "a whole load of mistakes" as she scored 111.100 to finish third behind England's Marfa Ekimova (112.300) and Cyprus' Anna Sokolova (112.100).
Arena Birmingham has been packed with an enthusiastic, vocal crowd throughout the gymnastics.
Kiroi-Bogatyreva was determined to feed off that energy in her ball, clubs and ribbon finals on Saturday, when she can increase her medal tally to five.
"It was an extremely exhausting day, not only physically but mentally," Kiroi-Bogatyreva told reporters.
"All the nerves get the better of us and I guess today I did my best and I came home with a bronze which I'm very happy with.
"(I"ll) go out and have fun, actually soak it in because it's been a stressful first two days for team and all-around qualification.
"Tomorrow I'm just going to go out do my routines again like I've always done and make sure I enjoy the crowd this time."
Kiroi-Bogatyreva now has four Games medals to her name after claiming team and ball bronze on the Gold Coast.
Fellow Australian Lidiia Iakovleva finished seventh (107.150) in the all-around and will compete in Saturday's hoop final.
Kiroi-Bogatyreva got her day off to a perfect start when she scored 28.000 in the hoop and recorded the top score in the ball, 28.200, to firmly thrust herself into gold medal contention.
In the clubs, Kiroi-Bogatyreva scored 28.300, but still trailed Ekimova, who scored 28.350.
The ribbon hurt the Australians, with Kiroi-Bogatyreva's score of 26.600 comfortably her lowest for the day
Iakovleva was in the medals mix after scoring 28.600 in hoop, 26.750 in ball and 27.600 in clubs, but had to replace her ribbon partway through and scored 24.200, scuppering her hopes.
