Aussie Fans Left Reeling After Bluey Makes A NSFW Appearance In South Park: ‘Creepy’

Aussie fans have been left in a state of shock after the title character of beloved children’s animation Bluey made a decidedly un-family friendly cameo on South Park

The bonafide Aussie icon made an appearance on a recent episode of the adult animation titled Sora Not Sorry. Known for its satire, the South Park episode explored the dangers of AI and deepfakes, and…. I think you can guess where this is unfortunately going.

Yep, our treasured blue dog is caught in the crossfire when South Park character Butters launches a schoolyard war of AI-generated revenge porn, featuring a whole host of children’s characters including one miss Bluey Heeler.

While the mere mention of Bluey alongside those words is enough to ruin childhoods across, our worst fears were partially avoided in that South Park never explicitly showed the AI content in question. In South Park terms, that’s an uncharacteristic exercise in restraint

Bluey was merely mentioned as having appeared in the videos shared by Butters’ classmates, and the whole fiasco results in the dog taking to the stand to testify against the use of her name and likeness without her consent. Our judicious girl doing us proud!

For what it’s worth, Bluey wasn’t the only childhood character referenced in the episode. Others name-dropped in the jokes about AI-generated content included infamous spinach-eater Popeye and Totoro from the Studio Ghibli classic My Neighbor Totoro. Hey, at least Bluey had allies in her corner!

As you can imagine, the reactions to the animation crossover were mixed. Some pleaded with South Park to “leave Bluey alone” or described the cameo as “creepy”, while others said they were surprised the show held some of its punches and was “really respectful all things considered”.

Needless to say, it’s far from the first time the Comedy Central series has shocked fans. Earlier this year, South Park whipped up a frenzy with its attacks on Donald Trump, alleging in one episode complete with an AI-generated version of the US President that he has a “teeny-tiny” penis.

The White House responded like clockwork to that allegation (doth protest too much?), before South Park again pushed the envelope with a storyline lampooning Charlie Kirk. That episode was ultimately pulled following the conservative commentator’s death

So as South Park continues its 28th season, I urge the creators to leave Hi-5, The Wiggles, and everyone from the Play School universe out of their writers’ room.

Dear God, don’t bring Jemima into this.
