A powerful solar eruption is heading toward Earth. It could bring the Northern Lights to the northern United States. NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a G2 geomagnetic storm watch for October 9. The incoming coronal mass ejection, or CME, left the Sun on October 6. It followed an M1.4-class flare from sunspot region AR4549, as per a report by Space.
The forecast looks promising, but the Aurora Borealis is never guaranteed. The cloud’s magnetic orientation could decide whether the night brings glowing curtains or disappointment.
