Attendances across all League of Ireland clubs could top one million this year.
That’s according to Future Ticketing, an Offaly-based ticket sales enabling software company.
The men’s campaign kicks off this Friday night, while the Women’s Premier Division begins next month.
A rise in numbers through turnstiles of between 15 and 20 percent is being predicted, while FAI Cup and European games could also contribute to a landmark attendance figure.
Around 20,000 season tickets have been snapped up across the league, with Shamrock Rovers last week hitting the 4,000 mark.
“These are boom times for League of Ireland football and a definite pattern of rapid growth can be seen in season ticket sales and that points to record attendances throughout the coming year,” said Future Ticketing CEO Liam Holton.
