An attempted murder suspect has been named after a pensioner was stabbed.
Emergency services rushed to Hope Farm Road in Ellesmere Port at around 12am on Monday, July 11, following reports of a serious assault. Eyewitnesses reported a large police and ambulance presence which had arrived on the scene "very quickly".
Officers from Cheshire Police attending the scene found two people, a woman, 73, and a man, 31, with puncture wounds after being stabbed. The woman sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Aintree Hospital.

A spokesperson for the force said the woman remains in hospital at this time and her condition is described as stable. Now detectives in Ellesmere Port have charged a man in connection to the serious assault.
Marc Weaver of Lancaster Gardens, Ellesmere Port, was arrested on Monday following the serious assault that left two people with puncture wounds. The 47-year-old has since been charged with attempted murder, section 18 assault and section 47 assault. .
Weaver has been remanded in custody and will appear at Warrington Magistrates' Court On Wednesday, July 13.
