Art lovers are invited to experience 11 artworks by 11 artists with an innocent eye during "Anonymous", which is running at Atta Gallery until Aug 16.
Even though an artist's biography, technique, concept, style, movement, and cultural and historical context give us a deeper understanding of the work and its motifs, they can also shape and limit our interpretation of art, reducing the simple excitement and pure joy that come from first impressions and direct observation.
This group exhibition is trying to suspend some of these frameworks. It creates a pause, a space where art objects and artistic experience are detached from authorship. The 11 artworks are presented with no artist names, offering only fragments of context.
