Novak Djokovic has warned his rivals that his winning aura in tennis is only growing after on Sunday winning a record seventh ATP Finals.
The world No1 had lost in the group stages to Jannik Sinner but proved a class apart come the final against the Italian in front of his home crowd in Turin to win 6-3, 6-3.
It capped another remarkable year in which Djokovic, who next takes on Britain the Davis Cup, won three of the four Grand Slams.
And he warned the likes of Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, who he marked out as the sport’s next big stars, he was not done dominating the sport.
“The more I win on the biggest stage, the more this kind of aura grows and I’m glad for it,” he said. “Of course, that’s not going to win you the match but it might give you the little percentage, the little edge.
“I want them to feel that kind of pressure. When they play me, I want them to feel that it’s going to require the best tennis from them in order to win against me. That’s what I want my opponents to feel because that helps mentally coming into the match.”
