Atletico Madrid have invited 1974 shame game bruiser Ruben Ayala as a guest of honour at next week's Champions League rematch with Celtic.
And he will be honoured by the club at a special event the night before the game.
Celtic and Atletico produced a pulsating 2-2 draw in Glasgow last month and Brendan Rodgers' side realistically need a win in Spain on Tuesday at a stadium where the hosts have now won 14 La Liga games in a row.
Atletico were accused of bad taste by wearing the exact same replica strip in Glasgow as they wore in the infamous European Cup semi-final at Parkhead 49 years ago, although manager Diego Simeone and president Enrique Cerezo defended it.
Argentinian hard man Ayala was the first Atletico player sent off that night and two more followed - Ruben Diaz and Enrique Hernandez.
They eventually beat Celtic 2-0 in the return leg before going on to lose to Bayern Munich.
Now Ayala, nicknamed the 'Mouse, will be honoured at a special event the night before the group stage match called 'The Return of the Mouse' on Monday.
And he will be the guest of honour for the Metropolitano Stadium showdown on Tuesday.
He made 214 appearances for Atletico in seven years and played for Argentina at the 1974 World Cup. He later recalled the Parkhead encounter and said "I got a three-match ban for that game.
"I got booked twice - I think the first one was for stopping the keeper kicking it from his hands. We knew we had acted poorly.
"But we got three players sent off and still got a draw at a place like Celtic Park. We were a very good team."
