Girona striker Artem Dovbyk is on the verge of joining Atlético Madrid after agreeing to personal terms with the club. However, negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing as they work towards finalizing the transfer deal.
Girona is holding out for Dovbyk's €40m release clause to be met, while Atlético is looking to negotiate a lower transfer fee. Dovbyk, who was the top scorer in LaLiga last season with 24 goals, is eager to make the move to Atlético after helping Girona secure Champions League qualification.
Atlético is also in talks to sign Julián Álvarez from Manchester City, although a decision on the player's future is not expected until later in the transfer window. The club is set to announce the signing of Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand, as they look to strengthen their squad following the departure of Saúl Ñíguez to Sevilla.
In midfield, Atlético is considering Chelsea's Conor Gallagher and Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino as potential targets. Gallagher is reportedly the frontrunner due to positive feedback from compatriot Kieran Trippier, but negotiations may be complicated by Chelsea's €40m asking price.
Merino, with a €60m release clause, is also a target for Barcelona and Arsenal, adding to the competition for his signature. Atlético is yet to receive a formal offer for João Félix, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona, with Aston Villa showing interest in the Portuguese winger.
