Atlanta Hawks rookie guard/forward Nikola Djurisic, hailing from Serbia, recently underwent surgery on his left foot after sustaining a fracture during a summer league game on July 14. The surgery, which aimed to repair his left fifth metatarsal bone, was successfully performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina.
As a result of the surgery, Djurisic is expected to be sidelined until at least November, as confirmed by the Hawks. The team acquired Djurisic's rights by trading AJ Griffin to Houston, following Djurisic's selection in the second round of the draft.
In addition to Djurisic's injury, the Hawks made significant moves during the offseason. They drafted French prospect Zaccharie Risacher as the first overall pick, adding a promising 6-foot-9 wing to their roster. Furthermore, the team engaged in a trade with New Orleans, sending high-scoring guard Dejounte Murray in exchange for two first-round draft picks and three veteran players.
With Djurisic's recovery timeline set for November and a revamped roster featuring new talents and experienced players, the Atlanta Hawks are poised for an eventful and competitive season ahead.
