Athlone Town secure awards double after breakthrough season

Athlone Town last night secured an awards double - with Emily Corbet winning Player of the Year and Tommy Hewitt claiming Manager of the Year at the 2022 SSE Airtricity Women's National League Awards.

The Midlanders finished runners up to Shelbourne in both the league and FAI Cup.

However, it was their rise from a seventh place finish 12 months ago to title challengers this time around that saw them sweep the top honours at the Gibson Hotel.
