CHENNAI: The 61st edition of National inter-state senior athletics championships, to be held from June 10-14 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here, will see over 750 athletes across the country being part of it. The event acts as a final trial for the athletes to book their berths for the upcoming World championships in Oregon (USA), from July 15-24, followed by the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham (July 28-August 8).
Given the importance of the event, prominent names will be in action. Among the men, the long jump event promises to be an exciting affair. The in-form long jumpers M Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin, along with the seasoned Muhammed Anees Yahiya will be looking to make a mark on the opening day of the competition.
